
Associate Professor Rex Prabhu is currently serving as Chief Medical officer at Bendigo
Health and the Loddon Mallee Health Service Network.
He established Victoria’s first integrated sub-regional GP and rural generalist training
program in Swan Hill, spanning medical school through to RACGP and ACRRM fellowship
pathways.
He also co-founded the Connecting the Docs program, funded by the Victorian Department of Health, to help regional and rural areas build and retain a sustainable workforce using the Whole-of-Person Retention Improvement Framework.
His contributions were recognised with the ACRRM Distinguished Service Award (2023), the National Health Award for Excellence in Rural Health Administration, and the Public Service Medal for advancing medical services in regional areas.
